The patriot - 3

"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's."
We all know that this is a reply from Jesus to a spiteful question. After the speculation upon it for years, I have come to understand clearly what this reply really stands for.

Firstly, he points out that the money is only a symbol which has no meaning in itself. Therefore, the tax is nothing to him as long as it is paid by the money. Secondly, he can fetch the money from the material world as much as he wants, in other words, as much as he needs. Thirdly, if so, he does not need to be worried over the income or the expenditure, just living in the spiritual world.

Working classes people are often afflicted by the economic problem because they seek for the higher level of living than they can afford. If we understand the truth as the above and implement as it should be, we will have neither anxiety for the future, nor disaffection to the government.

I think that the ideal patriot should attain to this level, which is a very difficult stage as well for the most would-be patriots.

(Note)
As one of the would-be patriots, I would like to convey my message as follows:
After the United States attacked Iraq, there are no choice but to follow the world's tendency, that is, strengthening the armament. Right or left wing - it does not concern very much nowadays. People for the government policy will naturally be quiet. People against that policy should be quiet as well. Just see how the situation goes on. We cannot go back to the past, we cannot cry over spilt milk.

The patriot - 2

"Man shall not live by bread alone."
The New Testament teaches us to follow the God's words, but I think there are two different meanings herein.

One is that we should earn a living by ourselves. This is a material world, where every person gains the money and eat. This level is for the working classes people who are concentrated only in food, clothing and housing.

Another one is that we should also take interest in the mental world, doing something for the others' sake, under the name of volunteer work or something.

The regular patriot should be the latter one. But he cannot leave the family while doing something for the country. Firstly his family should be well-fed, well-educated. Patriot will mean little if he does not care about the economic life.

In other words, the regular patriot should "graduate" from the material world. In this sense, there are few patriots while many people represent themselves as the ones, all over the world.

The patriot - 1

"Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
The Old Testament shows the truth of this world. Human being is nothing but a dust in terms of the material, but it is at the same time eternal in the spiritual world.

The spirit, so-to-speak, is subject to the body, as long as he or she is alive. But it will be more active after the death. The spirit will never be forgotten if it was a firm and zealous aspiration which impressed the people survived him.

This does not mean that we may make light of our lives. The New Testament shows the truth of this world, as well.

"What shall a man be profited if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life?"
Here, we can understand life as soul. Life is eternal, it is not limited to the duration of the body existence. Life lead to soul, and soul lead to life. Such is my uderstanding about the life.
